The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new mask guidelines on February 22, 2022. These revisions change the metrics used to determine whether to recommend face coverings, shifting from looking at COVID-19 case counts to a more holistic view of risk from the coronavirus to a community.
Under the new guidelines, the majority of Americans no longer live in areas where indoor masking in public is required. Currently, Montgomery County is classified as medium risk and Walker County is classified as low risk. Therefore, Avery Eye Clinic will no longer require masks inside our facilities.
We will continue to sanitize all surfaces after each patient.
Patients and employees may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19, should continue to reschedule their appointments in accordance with the isolation and quarantine period recommended by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
