Contact Lens Fittings

Contact lenses are important modern-day inventions and tools used that help change people's lives. These small, yet powerful medical devices can be placed directly over the eyes and correct the vision of those who use the. However, there is a lot of specification that goes into getting contact lenses for each specific person. Therefore, it's important to visit an optometrist when choosing your contact lenses. An optometrist on our optometry team can help fit you with the best contact lenses to improve your vision and improve your quality of life.

At Avery Eye Clinic, we have an eye doctor in Conroe TX, The Woodlands, TX, and Huntsville, TX that can help you and your loved one see clearly with contact lenses! We offer eye care treatment in addition to a contact lens fitting. These services can help you choose the best contacts to keep you comfortable all day long.

What Is a Fitting for Contact Lenses?

A fitting is only a small portion of a contact lens exam. During a fitting, an optometrist on our optometry team will use a machine to help measure the surface of your cornea. This information can then be used to determine the size of contact lenses and to finish writing their prescription.

In addition to a contact lens fitting, an optometrist on our optometry team may also need to conduct and eye exam before prescribing you contact lenses. This eye exam can help determine if you have a vision disorder that can be treated using contact lenses. These vision disorders including refractive errors of the eye, which occur due to a misshapen cornea or lens. They can include:

  • Astigmatism, which is where the cornea of the eye is shaped incorrectly
  • Myopia, also known as nearsightedness
  • Hyperopia, also known as farsightedness

How Else Can an Optometrist Help Me?

An optometrist on our optometry team can write the prescription for your contact lenses, which is unique to your eye and vision disorders. He or she may also recommend other treatment options in case you have an eye disease that prevents you from wearing regular contact lenses.

Specialty contact lenses, such as scleral lenses, gas permeable lenses, and hybrid lenses, can all help correct your vision almost immediately. An eye doctor on our team can determine which eye care treatment or contact lenses will work for you.
