Renee Williams, O.D., FAAO
Renee Williams is a board-certified optometrist, beginning her practice of full scope optometry including contact lens fitting and management of ocular disease and surgical cases in 2004. Renee was born in a small rural town in southwest Kansas. Although she loved small town farm life, the cold winter pushed her South. Dr. Williams finished a bachelor of science degree in biology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduating she worked as an ophthalmology technician at an ocular surgery clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma for two years.
With that experience, Dr. Williams decided pursuing optometry school was her next step. Moving her further south, Dr. Williams was accepted into Oklahoma College of Optometry at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Following graduation from optometry school, Dr. Williams opted to pursue another year of study as a resident at BVA Advanced Surgical Eyecare in Edmond, Oklahoma and TLC laser center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There she trained in ocular disease management and patient care following cataract and refractive surgery. During her residency year, Dr. Williams finished the requirements to become a fellow member of the American Academy of Optometry. At the end of her year, Dr. Williams accepted a temporary job as a civilian contractor with Winn Army Medical Hospital in Fort Stewart, Georgia. There she worked alongside an ophthalmologist to provide refractive surgery for active duty soldiers. By the end of the contract term, Dr. Williams had fallen in love with the South. She accepted a job with South Coast Medical Practice in Savannah, GA where she worked for seven years establishing an eye care clinic in a multidisciplinary medical practice. Dr. Williams had fallen for the South, and shortly thereafter a man named Charlie who swept her right off her feet. They married in 2009 and returned to the Midwest to be closer to both of their families in 2013. They have a daughter named Olivia who is their greatest source of entertainment.
Dr. Williams joined Avery Eye clinic in July 2013. She is glaucoma certified and happily accepts patients school age and up for routine examination or surgical evaluation.
